“What you do has a far greater impact than what you say.” – Stephen Covey.
Undoubtedly, one of the biggest and best decisions I have made in my lifetime is choosing to become a student on Africa’s most beautiful campus with the most vibrant students’ union. I count it a rare privilege to be a part of the process of the historical return of our dear union after its proscription.
It’s evident that this privilege has given me the ideas, skills, and knowledge that will be pertinent to scaling new heights beyond the shores of this citadel of learning.
Without a doubt, serving as the Public Relations Officer of the Great Ife Students’ Union Electoral Commission remains the toughest ride I have taken in years. It was a ride that came with many expectations that left some met, some ‘unmet’ and some exceeded. Howbeit, I find it expedient to express my greatest gratitude to God for the gift of life and strength and to the Great Ife Students for believing in me and the commission at large. Thank you; we have delivered!
I owe my gratitude to Ajayi Oluwafemi Sunday (Efem Castro), whose selfless, constructive, and inclusive leadership made the pre-election, election, and post-election periods an easy ride. Without flattery, Nigeria needs a determined, experienced, and dynamic young man like you at the helm of her affairs. Go and do exploits.
I remain indebted to my leaders, Agbogunleri Michael (Ghandi), Immunity (former National VP, NANS), and Olorunwa Adeleke (Goddey), for their unswerving support. I also have a list of names I would have loved to mention, but I wouldn’t want to bore you with long rhetoric. Rather, I say thank you to everyone who believed in me and supported the journey, unalloyed.
I would like to use this medium to extend a warm congratulations to Reform and his team on their swearing-in. I wish you a safe and constructive time in office. Please take cognizance of’sledge hammers’ who assiduously break ground destructively and hellbent on frustrating ideas that will bring progress to your administration. Please keep the flag flying for the ‘sanity’ of our union.
My heartfelt congratulations to the Speaker, Toheeb, and the Parliamentarians on their swearing-in. I look forward to constructive representation and successful tenure as the defendants of the sacrosanct constitution of our union.
Finally, I beseech the generality of Great Ife students to remain dogged and valiant in the face of oppression. Victory is certain!
Yours in struggle,
The catalyst, Olalekan Olatunbosun O.
